POSITION DESCRIPTION

BASIC FUNCTION:
Performs advanced and
complex administrative work which involves the coordination and/or the
performance of specialized staff responsibilities. This classification differs
from the Staff Assistant classifications due to the specialized nature of the
work or program to which assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v Coordinates or supervises a highly
specialized program or administrative project within the unit of assignment.
v Creates and maintains specialized
data, records and reports relating to the program assigned.
v Maintains statistical data and
generates complex computerized reports of the operations and services.
v Reviews, reconciles and processes
logs, documentation, data, reports and proposals relating to the program or
assignment.
v Assists the public, students,
faculty and staff by providing information concerning the project or services
of the program assigned.
v Attends meetings, seminars and
conferences to explain or receive information relative to the work assignment.
v Represents the administrative
supervisor at meetings and in discussions with students, faculty and staff.
v Assists the supervisor in planning,
research and maintenance of the program.
v May supervise the work of clerical
staff and student assistants.
v Schedules events, meetings,
projects, interviews, tests and programs.
v Maintains budget records, payroll
information, purchase orders, student grade and attendance records and related
information.
v Processes and analyzes accounting
and fiscal records and reports.
v Responsible for assuring that the
unit to which assigned is operating within college rules and regulations and
applicable laws.
v Performs advanced staff assistant
tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
v Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an
accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
supplemented by college courses in business administration or related field.
Associate's degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Four (4) years experience
in responsible office administrative work in an educational institution or
comparable related experience.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the programs,
procedures and operations of the unit to which assigned. Knowledge of overall
college programs and operations. Knowledge of office administrative procedures
and practices. Knowledge of computer applications relating to the area of work
assignment. Knowledge of sentence structure and word usage. Knowledge of
mathematics. Ability to maintain good working relationships with students,
faculty and staff. Verbal and written communications skills. Skill in reading
comprehension. Computer and calculator skills.
