POSITION TITLE: Custodial Crew Leader I

BASIC FUNCTION:

Functions as a supervisor of custodial personnel at a college site and participates in the work of the custodians.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists the custodial supervisor or crew leader in the supervision of a custodial staff at a college site.
• In the absence of the custodial supervisor or crew leader, provides supervision and assigns work to the custodians.
• Assists in providing solutions to operating problems, personnel discipline and performance situations of the staff.
• Inspects work to determine if cleaning standards of the college are followed.
• Acts as trainer for new custodial personnel as directed.
• Performs all custodial duties as needed.
• Distributes and accounts for custodial supplies, materials and equipment.
• Assures that buildings and premises are secure at the end of a shift.
• Performs related duties as required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Two (2) years experience as a custodian.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of custodial operations, methods, procedures and standards of the college. Knowledge of cleaning materials and solvents. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Knowledge of the Right-To-Know Law. Ability to train a custodial staff. Ability to climb ladders. Reading skill. Ability to pass a post qualification physical examination. Ability to perform all of the duties of a custodian. Supervisory skills. Custodian Certification. Custodial Training Certification.
