BASIC FUNCTION:
Supervises and participates
in landscaping activities on a campus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Functions
as working crew leader and participates in the work of landscaping crews.
v
Trains
and assigns work to landscaping personnel.
v
Prepares
and maintains records, including inventories of supplies and equipment.
v
Controls
landscaping equipment and facilities, such as preventative maintenance programs.
v
Checks/repairs
water sprinkler systems.
v
Initiates
stock requisitions for supplies and equipment.
v
Prepares
work schedules for personnel under direct supervision.
v
Maintains
parking lots and walkways.
v
Tests
soil, develops and implements irrigation, feeding, pesticide and fungicide
programs.
v
Develops
and implements program of cutting, trimming, edging, planting and tree care.
v
Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an
accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma,
supplemented by courses in plant life, plant diseases and use of chemical
compounds in landscaping.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years experience
in landscaping to include soil analysis, care, feeding, treatment and
irrigation of turf, planting and tree care.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of horticulture and
pollutants. Certified in the use and application of restricted pesticides,
herbicides and fungicides. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to operate
landscaping equipment. Skill in reading comprehension. Knowledge of basic
mathematics. Ability to pass a post qualification physical examination.
Supervisory skills. CDL Class "D" Florida Driver's License. HRS Lawn
and Ornamental Pest Control License. Communications skills.
