BASIC FUNCTION:
Performs care and
maintenance of college grounds, lawns, parking lots and irrigation systems.
Duties also include repair work on landscape equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Operates
tractor, attached implements and all other types of groundskeeping equipment in
mowing, planting, water and pruning functions.
v
Performs
maintenance on landscape equipment (oiling, lubricating and inspecting).
v
Landscapes
college site area. Disposes of dead shrubs, trees, bushes; trims, prunes,
waters, etc.
v
Treats
turf, plants and trees for pests and diseases.
v
Performs
physical labor in varying weather conditions.
v
Cleans
parking lots and walkways.
v
Provides
scheduled preventative maintenance service and makes repairs to irrigation
systems.
v
Performs
repair work on grounds equipment, maintenance vehicles, tractors, lawn mowers,
hedges and related equipment.
v
Performs
duties related to landscaping function as required.
v
Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an
accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Two (2) years experience in
the maintenance and operation of landscape equipment and maintenance of
irrigation system.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of small engines.
Knowledge of irrigation systems. Knowledge of landscaping practices. Ability to
repair landscape equipment. Ability to operate tractors, mowers, spray rigs and
other grounds maintenance equipment. Ability to climb ladders and lift
equipment. Skill in basic reading comprehension. Ability to pass a post
qualification physical examination. CDL Class "D" Florida Driver's
License
