POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Senior Security Officer

DEPARTMENT: Campus Security SITE: Various

SALARY SCHEDULE: Career - GRADE: 2

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Senior Security Officer performs security duties on a campus.  These functions include, but are not limited to the enforcement of the parking code, incident investigation and documentation, securing of college facilities and the protection of students and staff.  Responsible for overseeing security personnel at their respective site, submitting Risk Management inspection forms, submitting routine work orders and compiling office log book.  Oversee the security program at their specific site and liaison with other campus offices in providing security services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

v      Investigate and document all reported incidents and provide documentation to the appropriate college authority.

v      Review subordinate’s reports and provides appropriate feedback/corrective action.

v      Serve as the security liaison to the campus administrators.

v      Ensure all security officers assigned to their shift are conducting their duties properly.

v      Provide and/or arrange for proper and adequate personnel for routine duties, special events, control duties at special events and college sponsored activities.

v      Patrol campus grounds and buildings safe-guarding people and college assets.

v      Prepare/submit/disperse college incident reports. 

v      Issues citations for violations of the campus parking code.

v      Provide and/or arrange for safety escorts when requested by students, staff, faculty or a member of the public or as otherwise required by circumstances.

v      Assist the Senior Security Supervisor in implementing a pro-active information program on campus security and parking regulations.

v      Supervise the activities of other personnel as directed by Senior Security Supervisor.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Possesses a minimum of a "D" Security Officer License from the State of Florida.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Four (4) years of security or related experience. Military and/or previous security experience on a college campus preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Possess an intimate knowledge of security procedures and best practices; an in-depth knowledge of college policy and procedures. Out-going personality with the ability to handle criticism and difficult situations; interact with students and the public in a tactful manner.  Excellent communication and reading comprehension. Ability to write satisfactory reports and memoranda.
