BASIC FUNCTION:
Performs advanced student service work
in various departments. Tasks may include, but will not be limited to,
receiving payments for fees, registering students, explaining complex financial
assistance procedure in a specialized area, assisting in the counseling
and student development office, providing complex information concerning
student records or in a similar function
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists students in providing the more
complex information relating to the area of assignment.

Functions as a lead or balance cashier
in collecting and receipting payments for registration fees and other types
of payments. Processes refund of fees as directed. Inputs data into computer
for payment of tuition, fees, etc. Balances daily deposits and other accounting
data. Provides students with information concerning payment of fees.

Performs student registration. Receives
and processes student applications. Produces copies of transcripts and
mails to proper address in accordance with procedures. Makes changes to
student records. Compiles and mails letters concerning student enrollment.
Provides information to students relating to admissions and registration
process.

Explains the more complex student assistance
and financial aid process to students in a specialized area such as veterans
benefits. Assists students in completing applications. Tracks information
into the computer. Answers more difficult questions concerning financial
assistance over the telephone or in person.

Assists students by providing information
about career choices. Handles student in-take process at counseling and
student development offices. Sets appointments with counselors. Maintains
data base relating to clients.

Answers telephones at the work location
and provides the caller with information concerning the area of assignment.
Maintains complex records and reports for the office.

May be assigned lead worker duties in
the unit of assignment.

Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduation or possession
of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Three (3) years experience in office
or secretarial work, preferably in the unit to which assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of all of the rules and procedures
of the unit to which assigned. Knowledge of sentence structure and word
usage. Skill in reading comprehension. Knowledge of basic mathematics.
Ability to receive and receipt cash payments. Ability to operate a computer.
Ability to maintain good relationships with students, faculty and staff.
Communications skills. Ability to keyboard at a prescribed rate of speed.
Ability to utilize the telephone to provide students specific information.
Customer relations skills.
