POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Television
Control Center Technician
DEPARTMENT:
Instructional Television SITE: SEM
SALARY SCHEDULE:
Career Service - GRADE: 3
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for the
operation of distribution, satellite reception and transmitting equipment
providing instructional programming within the college and throughout the
community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operates transmitters and records video outputs at regular intervals.

Selects programs, loads recorders, runs and switches video output to
transmitters and/or closed circuit channels according to logs.
- Sets
up vectorscopes and wave form monitor to insure proper technical TV signal.

Checks new video tapes for quality and length.
- Sets
up props and scenery; sets up lighting grids and adjusts dimmer control board;
sets up and checks microphones and audio console; checks studio camera levels.

Directs TV productions or operates studio camera as required.

Maintains and reworks control room for efficient operations under the Chief
Television Engineer.

Checks out, transports and sets up video equipment at remote locations.

Types daily messages on character generator and/or computer for program
information.
- Trains users on
problem areas when help is requested on audiovisual equipment and interactive
classrooms.
- Sets up and operates
equipment for meetings and classes as assigned.
- Directs student
assistants and others in the operation and use of audiovisual equipment.
- Digital broadcast
scheduling of telecourses and institutional advancement initiatives.
- Operate satellite
receivers for WFSU, ARTS, and PBS program reception, conversion, and
broadcasting.

Convert tapes to video on demand, DCo (broadcast). Duplicate tapes for
instruction and re-broadcast. Maintain tape back-up system.

Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A. A. Degree in
video-related field preferred. Vocational Certificate acceptable. Video
production training.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Two (2) years experience
working with video production and distribution equipment.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Communication skills.
Photographic skills. Knowledge of broadcast production. Knowledge of word usage.
Skill in reading comprehension. Skill in proofreading. Knowledge of basic
mathematics. Good record for promptness and dependability.
